Flowers in the House

Spring is creeping in.  I can feel it.  I can see little tiny pieces of it.  By next week I might have my own-grown flowers, but not today.
Today it's store-brought, and plain old alstroemeria.  Actually, I love them, but 90% of the time it's what I buy.  I did check for roses yesterday.  They were all "soft", so I did not purchase.
Since it was my old standby, I wanted to try something more creative than "plop in the vase", so what I was going for was vertical and layers.  This is close to what I had in mind, and at least it's a bit of creativity thought.

And, you know that I have a pot of spring bulbs this time of year.  We have had these hyacinths for more than a week and they are still perfuming the entire house.  Many of their ancestors from previous winters are starting to bloom in the garden ... as they will next year!
Please be sure to visit Jane at SmallButCharming.  She is our hostess today, as she is every last Monday!  Lots to see, so be sure to hop over there to find out what's blooming in other parts of the world.

Wednesday Workday

Fun, fun this week!  Last year we re-did the floors in the great room.  That required us to re-do the kitchen counter tops and finally repaint.  This year ... I got new pull-out shelves!

My shelves looked just like everyone else's - too much, too crowded.
Then the nice man came with a truck full of shelves ... just for me.
It took him a whole day, but when he left I had lots of great looking shelves and I can pull them out to get to the back of every single one!
And, now it's all nicely re-stowed - room for everything...
and even a bit of space left over.  Wonder what I need to get to fill those holes?

A Perfect Storm

It's the perfect snow - three inches of heavy, wet, vanilla ice cream but only on the grass!  The roads are mostly clear with only half an inch or so of slushy ice in the shady spots.

The sun was golden as it came over the rooftops early this morning, but as soon as it was really light the snow started to melt. It's nothing like the snowfall that started this whole blogging thing.

Mother Nature rocks!

Time Goes By

Yesterday

Today
I'm just sitting around watching my hyacinth open ... and hoping we don't get more than three inches of the white stuff.
