Snowfall, Virginia Style

 

We had my favorite kind of snow on Friday.

Friday - 10 a.m.

Saturday - 10 a.m.

What more could a warm-weather kind of girl want?

Only in Virginia

While a lovely snow has given school children in our area an extra day off today, it suddenly occurred to me that today was already a State Holiday.

Seriously.

It's a big weekend for us in the Old Dominion.

Monday is, of course, Martin Luther King Day...

and the Inauguration.

 Maybe someday we will be the New Dominion.

Wednesday Workday

Fourteen weeks and two days.  It seemed more like 1.9 Dog Years, but finally on Sunday I was back on my knees digging in the dirt.

Mother Nature provided a  lovely 60-degree day and enough thawed soil that weeding and deadheading were easy and productive.  Thanks, Mom!

It was only a small start, but felt right.  My back gave out while my shoulder was still going strong.

Now  like a baby bird, I have been kicked out of the nest by my PT and see the Doc for the final checkup tomorrow.  No more excuses for not posting and not digging - well, at least no more physical ones.   

Snow is predicted for tomorrow.

Mom also provided a couple of little bits of encouragement for the months to come.

It's New Year's Eve!

And, it's Flowers in the House!

These will go on the dining room table, but don't photograph well against the cherry wood.

Three reasons to celebrate today.  Sadly, nothing really blooming in the yard - altho the hellebores are trying hard and will join us in a few days.  Maybe a camellia or two, as well. 

A new vase for Christmas - you'll see lots of it in the spring, I think.

So, it's purchased poseys for me - mini-carnations in the most shocking purple and a bit of white stuff, plus the obligatory rosemary from the garden.

On the coffee table with a mirror underneath for tonight.

I do like a little bling for New Year's Eve, so have mixed silver and purple balls (not even left over from Christmas, but purchased for NYE several years ago).
