Altho it's a lovely, sunny day it's still about 10 degrees too cold for comfortable outdoor work. The mind is willing, but the body says, "What are you thinking??!!"
So, instead I'm enjoying the amaryllis that finally bloomed yesterday - a day too late for the flower party on Monday!
But how can you not love this baby?
While red and orange are not high on my list of favorite colors, this rich orangy-red or reddish-orange is just gorgeous. And, it looks wonderful with both my purple kitchen walls and the pale aqua walls in the rest of the house.
Otherwise, it's that one-dish time of the year. This weekend it was beef stew. Nothing special here: beef, onions, mushrooms, carrots, peas, tomatoes and a bit of roasted red pepper. And a touch of red vermouth for extra flavor. I even baked a loaf of bread. OK, I pulled a frozen loaf out and baked it, but it was fresh and yummy.
Hope you are having a good week.
That stew looks pretty special to me.
ReplyDeleteToo windy to think about working outside here.
Literally blew down the street to work today.
Soon though Webb. Soon.

Hi Webb - Does that bread have nuts in it? :)
ReplyDeleteSay, would you mind not referring to SH as Primo on the CF blog? My mom reads it but she doesn't know about the other blog (at Primo's request - he is so mortified by his parents) and she is asking questions!
Hey! Not to worry! I'm very happy to have you as a commenter in both places! I edited the comments and everything is OK now.
DeleteI agree with Jane, the stew looks yummy. There is nothing better on a cold cold day. Bonnie
ReplyDeleteThat looks like real winter: amaryllis, soup and bread. It is so good to have something blooming inside and the 'ryllis is gorgeous. We are enjoying some forced narcissus, love the fragrance.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed that (February) sunshine :-).
Well we did manage to enjoy some outdoors time on Wed. Neal got home from school early so we went downtown and ate at a deli (where we learned that "No MC Colors" means "No Motorcycle Club Colors"...apparently, it's a THING in our neck of the woods. Yes, we are so proud) and then headed to the battlefied for a nice long walk. I'll take 60 degrees. But when it dropped to 50 today, we camped out inside. That stew would have been perfect rainy weather food tonight! May everything stay rooted in the flood that's coming over the next 24 hours. At least the Amaryllis is safe.
