Four short weeks after I planted* spinach, argula, Romaine and kale, I picked my first harvest!
I know it's this crazy early, warm spring, but couldn't be more thrilled. I hope this means that the market will see little of me until July!.
Ten days and I can put seeds in the ground (tomatoes, ground cherries, and scallions from GrowJourney) and then a week later the bedding plants! Can hardly wait!
*I started with four-packs, not seeds. Will try that in the fall.
We are planting greens this year. I can't wait; wish I was there. Here the crocuses are blooming and the daffodils will be in a week or two.
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that! Just waiting for some dressing of Dijon mustard, shallots, lemon juice/vinegar and EVOO. Nothing like a homegrown salad. Are you doing some herbs too? My greens are still a 4-leaf affair but should be coming along this week. We still had a little frost last week.
ReplyDeleteFrost expected tomorrow night and again Friday, so we are not over the hump yet. am still holding off on planting "fragile" stuff, and will bring a pot of basil in for the rest of the week. Willb e glad when we finally get to the 15th ... our last frost date.
ReplyDeleteYour first harvest evokes wonderful fresh feeling. I can imagine this flavor.
