We had friends for dinner Saturday - Abby and The Barrister - so most of the flowers are left from the weekend. Mitchell brought me a bunch of alstoemeria from the grocery store (sorry Jane and Denise) and I added some hellebores from the garden to make individual place flowers.
But always a few hyacinths - not quite in bloom yet.
Hope you are having a great Monday!
What a lovely idea to do individual flowers for place settings, might have to pinch that one next time we have a celebration!xx
ReplyDeleteSweet little vases Webb. And I have been known to buy flowers from the grocery store myself.
ReplyDeleteThank you for always joining in the fun. You're a good friend.

Beautiful stems. I love little posies. Sinead
ReplyDeleteFlowers always make the table so festive.
ReplyDeleteHope you have those hyacinths on your desk this morning :-).
I like individual place flowers. It frees dinner guests from having to peer through the large vase of flowers to chat with one another during dinner. Your hyacinths look so sweet and hopeful.
ReplyDeleteIs (s?)he really a barrister? Your hyacinths make me want to have a dinner party. Don't know why.
ReplyDeleteLovely vase of flowers, I'm sure the hyacinths wont be too long..x
ReplyDeleteBwahahaha....when you say "we had friends for dinner" I think about Anthony Hopkins in "Silence of the Lambs" when he said "I had a friend for dinner" and then suggests that he washed him down with a little chianti. I may be just a little disturbed. The flowers are absolutely beautiful! And I took pictures of mine that bloomed in the backyard while I was gone and will email them this week (I am working my way through my Google Reader and accidentally promised BLissed-Out Grandma that I would send her pictures of my flowers for identification. I can only blame the jet lag and El Paso time difference).
ReplyDeleteMarie, my friend does meet the British definition of barrister, since he practices in court, but he also does administrative legal work, so could also be called a solicitor. He is my free salvation most of the time!
ReplyDeleteDeborah, the hyacinths are coming along beautifully. A deep pink with a wonderful fragrance.
Ally, we did have a lovely dressing with our friends, altho it was on the salad! Only you would have made that connection! I'll check my hotmail frequently so that I can see your bushes!
Forced hyacinths are among my favs. I plant mine out after the blossoms fade, despite the literature that says they won't come back. They always do.
ReplyDeleteNever seen hellebores used as cut flowers - they make lovely arrangements. Happy GBBD!
ReplyDeleteI love the little posies and the mixed blue plates! Alstro cut short makes a pretty bouquet!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I never seem to be organized enough to get to the flowers before dinner guests arrive. Such a nice touch!
ReplyDeleteI am really starting to like tiny posies. They are so pretty and you can use shorter flowers that are not suitable for a larger arrangement.
ReplyDeleteLovely little arrangements! I didn't know that hellebores bloomed this time of year.
ReplyDeleteA pretty and simple arrangement is always the nicest.
ReplyDeleteI love hellebores in vases they somehow just seem to fall the right way for one who is hopeless at arrangements. Mine are green.
ReplyDeleteI love the table setting idea. Pretty pretty pretty. Sinead
ReplyDeleteI only like Alstros when I see them in your little vases.
ReplyDeleteCan't go wrong with alstroemeria, they always save the day. Especially in this lovely pink.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of individual place flowers. Such a nice concept.
ReplyDeleteNever look down on grocery store flowers! They can be so sweet (like yours!) and usually a great price!
ReplyDeleteLove your little vases and the lovely simplicity of the flowers. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteAny flowers in the house are beautiful flowers. Love the little vases of flowers.
ReplyDeleteAh those hyacinths are so close! Bet you can't wait for them to pop!
ReplyDeleteThat pale green tablecloth just makes those sweet little bouquets sing.
ReplyDeleteHyacinths are especially appealing at that tight bud phase.
